It’s really odd. I’ve had this ADHD all my life but didn’t realize I had self-managed it with Nicotine when I was young. I remember my brain kicking in and all of a sudden being able to focus and get good grades for once in my life. Went from a C-D student to an A-B student. Many years later I need some actual medicine to focus and I’m trying Vyvanse. Whoa, all the noise in my head stopped. I’ve never experienced this but the ability to focus is awesome and I’m able to process faster. My mind can actually keep up with my typing. On the downside, my ability to multitask isn’t as good though and sometimes I miss my friends partying and making all that noise in my head. Seeing this from both sides if you can learn to master and take advantage of your ADHD it can be awesome and a powerful tool. People come into my office I’m listening to an audiobook, coding, fixing an issue, and testing a tablet at the same time. It’s funny the way it amazes certain people. Unfortunately, it becomes impossible to manage if you get too overwhelmed. That’s where Vyvanse is really nice. In the beginning, it was a bit hard to know what time I should take it so that it would stay effective until 4 hours after school and not keep me up all night. The only problem I’ve had when on it is I’m getting migraines more often when I’d usually just get the daily headache instead of migraine. When I was taking Concerta it would barely last throughout the school day, I’d get to 3rd period and it’d just completely wear off, but with Vyvanse, it doesn’t wear off until 4 to 5 hours after school which gives me enough time to be able to do my homework and stay focused throughout the school day.
